The Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination are shown on the obverse.
Presented in a prestigious display case, a light turns on as you open the case, highlighting the opal design and symbolising moonlight, shining down on the nocturnal koala. Also inside an illustrated shipper and a numbered CoA.
The koala, perhaps Australia’s most beloved and iconic animal. The cuddly koala 'bear' is not really a bear at all, but a marsupial. Protected by law the koala inhabits trees and feed solely on a diet of eucalypt (gum) leaves. Like many Australian mammals, this unique creature is nocturnal and can sleep for approximately 18 hours a day. This idea was the inspiration behind the design concept.
