This magnificent Proof .925 Silver coin was issued to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the death of Amerigo Vespucci, one of the early explorers of the New World. Vespucci reported his journeys in letters, which include his now-famous document Mundus Novus (New World), from his exploratory trip in 1501.
After the publication of the letters, a German cartographer called the new continent "America" on his world map from 1507. From that point, Vespucci has been considered the eponym of America. Amerigo Vespucci died on February 22nd, 1512 in Seville.
The obverse of the coin depicts Elizabeth II as well as the inscription of the Queen's name. Comes to you in original capsule and with a certificate of authenticity.
