Mintage of only 5,000 coins!
This .925 Silver square coin is the fourth collector coin in the "Oddities of Nature" series by The Mint of Poland. The flying frog does not exactly fly, but glides over considerable distances. When threatened, or perhaps just feeling like moving, it takes a great leap and, spreading wide the long, webbed fingers and toes, glides safely a dozen or so meters through the air to a landing in the next tree. On the reverse of the coin in the central part is an image of the flying frog. Above the frog are two outlines of the frog in different phases of its gliding. The background has images of leaves and climbers. At the bottom, along the rim, is the inscription for the Latin name of the flying frog. On the obverse is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. To the left is the country of issue. Also on the obverse are the face value and a background of images of plants and animal tracks. Each coin comes encapsulated and with a Certificate of Authenticity from the Mint of Poland.
