While the Flying Fox mainly lives on many islands in the Indian Ocean and the western and southern Pacific, the Samoan Flying Fox, as the name suggests, is only found in Samoa and the Fiji Islands. Normally the Flying Fox is nocturnal. This is not the case with the Samoan Flying Fox, he searches for food during the day and at night he is hardly ever seen. The coin obverse depicts the Flying Fox with two authentic Swarovski element as eyes. The inscription "pteropus samoensis" is his scientific name. On the reverse of the .925 silver coin is the Samoa Coat of Arms and the denomination. This coin comes in the original capsule and with a Certificate of Authenticity.
