Product Description

Mintage of only 750 coins!
This 99.99% pure gold coin has a face value of 200 Dollars with a diameter of 30 millimetres and a weight of 31.10 grams. The reverse image features a detail from Robert Bateman’s painting, The Challenge. The original painting presents a massive bull moose emerging from dense, snow-dusted brush to gaze directly at the viewer, shoulders hunched below its massive head and antlers in a typical challenge pose. This detail features the moose’s head, antlers, and body, as the enormous animal stares aggressively from the shining polished ground of the coin’s reverse side. The image is perfectly balanced within the borderless polished silver field. In a Royal Canadian Mint first, Robert Bateman’s signature is engraved to the left side of the image. Also features the embossed text “CANADA,” the dates “1962–2012” to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. Coin is encapsulated and presented in a maroon clamshell case lined with flock and protected by a black sleeve.
