This 99.99% pure silver coin has a diameter of 38 millimetres and weighs 31.39 grams. It is the fourth coin in the Royal Canadian Mint’s stunning series celebrating the history and traditions of Canada’s Chinese communities. The reverse image features Three Degrees Creative Group Inc.’s striking deer and bat design, with two majestic leaping deer meeting as friends, surrounded by the traditional “Five Blessings” bat charm. These richly symbolic creatures frolic against a tapestry of forest leaves dotted with eight figurative gold coins representing great prosperity. The coin’s charming imagery centers around a selective hologram of three maple leaves presented in the celebratory golds, oranges, and crimsons of Chinese New Year festivities. The hologram is flanked by the Chinese character for “Good Fortune,” the year “2012,” and the dollar value of “15 Dollars.” The obverse design by Susanna Blunt features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint branded maroon clamshell case lined with black flock and protected by a black sleeve.
