Product Description

Finest known! Population of only 7 coins graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo with none graded higher! Mintage of 68,888 coins! This coin honors the Year of the Rabbit highlighted in the reverse center in 24 K gold-plating. Centuries ago, the Chinese invented a calendar based on the lunar-rather than the solar--cycle. In 1998, Canada inaugurated a remarkable series of coins, designed by Harvey Chan, featuring the animal symbols of astrology based on the Lunar Calendar. These symbols roughly approximate the signs of the zodiac in western culture, however, denote years instead of months. The obverse of each coin bears the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by artist Dora de Pedery-Hunt. Contains 34 grams of sterling silver totaling one full ounce of pure silver.
