In the middle and fading into the upper field is an allegorical composition of Pre-Hispanic and colonial elements (pyramid, aqueduct and church dome) with a maguey below, the words "CULTURAL FUSION". In the lower field three Spanish coins, cacao fruit, in the lower field on the right the Mexican Mint, la Casa de Moneda de México, in the upper left-hand field the mint year; in the exergue the text "1.25 g DE ORO PURO LEY 0.750" (1.25 g OF PURE GOLD, FINENESS 0.750). In the middle of the obverse side of these coins is the National Emblem in sculptured relief and above it, in the form of a semi- circle the words "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" (UNITED MEXICAN STATES). The edge is smooth.
