The 2013 Brilliant Uncirculated Silver Britania is the first time this coin has had 3 Nines fineness (.999). This as they abandoned the standard Britannia Silver guideline of 95.84%. But why didn't they focus on the detailing? I understand that this is Brilliant Uncirculated and not a graded coin. It's not intended to be a "Premium" or proof issue. The detail just isn't there... The 2013 Canadian Maple Leaf and 2013 Australian Kookaburra are crisp with fine lines - seems like the Royal Mint could have followed along with other Crown coinage and "punched it up" a bit. Looks like they just upped the silver content and changed the year from 2012 to 2013. Nevertheless it's from the home of the Crown - how can you not buy it?

Like many others who reviewed this piece, the 2013 is a really attractive design, but the relief is certainly not what it appears to be in the picture. It just does not POP like I hoped it would. For the 2014 Britannia, I may just purchase one coin to see how it turns out before I purchase in larger quantities. If the 2014 has .999 sillver and a higher relief, it will be a big hit with collectors. Hopefully the mint is reading these comments! Thanks APMEX for allowing us to share.

Comments about 2013 1 oz Silver Britannia BU:

Brilliant Uncirculated? More like Boring with a capital "B"! The artwork on this coin is very beautiful, but the coin itself looks like it is chromed over, like that of children's play toy money. You know, the toy sets we uses to beg our Mom to buy us at the grocery store when we were 4 years old. I probably asked a 1,000 times, but never got the plastic coins I always wanted. That is probably the root cause of my silver stacking addiction, and this coin brought back those wretched memories. Maybe I am being a little dramatic, but hey, the british are way more dramatic with their catchy britpop tunes.

The Silver Britannia's features do get lost in the soft detail of the design, and with out any matte finish it is like holding a shiny blob of a coin. I really wanted to love this coin and give it a 5 star rating but just can't do it. If the british could get Perth to make this coin with their signature gloss to matte ratio, this coin would be amazing with the design it has.

The 1oz. Silver Britannia is a beautiful coin and has nice deep detail on both sides and makes for an interesting coin collection. Now I usually collect coins and bullion mainly for saving, but I do also like them for looking at.

For me coins and bullion are like seeing into the past and just wondering about the history of it.I just wish I had lots of money so I could buy lots of these, these are totally worth the price in my opinion.

Comments about 2013 1 oz Silver Britannia BU:

I've always liked the Britannias for a lot of reasons -- great design, relatively low mintages, easy to resell as needed, etc. But they do have the same milk spotting issues as Maple Leafs and ASEs. So caveat emptor. A few of the ones in the roll had some minor spotting. Obviously I don't blame APMEX for that, as it's a Royal Mint problem. But it's something to keep in mind when buying Britannias.

The bullion value and the strength of the underlying currency make these a steal, at current market prices. I've warmed up to what I originally felt was a plain design.

Regardless, as a collector or investor, Brittanias are a value buy. They will appreciate in maket value and as a collectible.

                      Thanks APMEX.

The coins came in a container, well packaged and of course, were of superior quality. I inspected for flaws and repackaged. It's nice to know these can be used for an IRA. The quality so impressed me that as time goes on I will more likely add more to my holdings.

I like these least compared to Perth, eagles, maples, and rounds.
They are more expensive. It is nice to have 1 in my collection, but I
defiantly won't be stacking these. the entire coin is glossy, no differentiation between silver tones, which is different; I kind of like it because it varies from other coins.

I bought one of these from another online vendor out of Florida and it looked terrible it had finger prints and water marks so I was skeptical about buying another because all the complaints about the Royal Mint for the 2013's. APMEX sent me flawless Britannias and they have a great design. I have no complaints, stick with APMEX and you won't have to worry about getting sub-par coins like with other vendors.
