Product Description

As low as $64.99 per coin over spot!
While the Gold Britannia has always offered beauty and reliability, it now also gives you 0.9999 purity. This new specification, combined with its tradition and integrity, gives the 2013 1 oz Gold Britannia new life for today’s investor. The legendary figure of Britannia has symbolized Britain’s strength and integrity on coinage since Roman times. With such a depth of history, it is little wonder that the Britannia has been a popular choice with bullion investors ever since its introduction in 1987.

Issued as UK legal tender, each coin is meticulously struck by The Royal Mint from 0.9999 fine Gold.

SHALLOW RELIEF RUINS VISUAL APPEAL

Comments about 2013 1 oz Gold Britannia - Brilliant Uncirculated:

When I received this coin I was totally unsatisfied because of the shallow relief. This made the coin appear as a weak strike or an overly circulated and overly worn specimen. I exchanged it for a 2008 1 oz. gold Britannia and was totally satisfied with it. It has a decent relief. If the 2013 had the same relief as the 2008, it would be a beautiful coin. Instead, as I mentioned above, it looks like its overly worn or a weak strike.

Comments about 2013 1 oz Gold Britannia - Brilliant Uncirculated:

I purchased 8 gold coins and found this coin to be my favorite. First year for .9999 fine gold is nice but the luster & design is what won me over. This coin is larger than the typical 1oz coin and the reeds on the coin are sparkly with a fantistic finish. if you buy the coin you will agree. I think it's fantastic. Will purchase 4 more and grab the new 1/10 oz too.

It appeared to have a nice design, which it does, but the relief is so shallow that it makes the beautiful design insignificant.

Comments about 2013 1 oz Gold Britannia - Brilliant Uncirculated:

Had I seen this in person I would not have purchased it. There is almost no relief. It looks more like a piece of glossy jewelry, like it was poured into a mold rather than struck on a die. If you can get a good over-spot price buy it because it's unique, otherwise I'd pass.

I would pass on this one

                By John Mesher

                from North Carolina

Comments about 2013 1 oz Gold Britannia - Brilliant Uncirculated:

I was pretty disappointed when this one arrived. It has a brilliant, mirror-like finish, but the relief on it was disappointing. It's very shallow, low relief and the image on both sides is rather flat and unimpressive. The only thing positive I can see is the novelty factor of having the first year mintage when this coin became .9999 fine. Still, until the British Royal Mint improves the quality of their strikes, I would pass on this one and get a Philharmonic or pretty much anything else instead.
