This 100 Franc Proof Silver coin has an actual Silver weight of .6423 oz and was issued by France as part of a series commemorating the 50th anniversary of World War II. This coin marks the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Saint Mere-Eglise by elements of the U.S. 82nd & 101st airborne divisions.
The church is seen with a parachute in the backround on the reverse. The obverse shows the location of the town within the Normandy of France and the words “Voie de la Liberte,” which means “The Path to Liberty.” The value, dates, and legends also occupy the reverse. Light contact marks. KM#1043.
