This Gold Solidus dates from the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Phocas (602 - 610 AD). It contains 4.42g actual Gold weight and was produced at the Constantinople Mint.

The obverse shows a front facing bust of Phocas with the inscription "dNN FOCAS PERP AVG"

The reverse shows "VICTORIA AVGY" and an angel standing holding a long staff. "CONOB" appears below. Officinae I.

This coin is graded Almost Uncirculated by NGC with perfect ratings for strike (5/5), and surface (5/5)--a high grade for an ancient coin!
