The Gold content of these 100 Francs coins is .795 oz. These Gold Francs from Monaco were issued during the same year as the 10 Francs coins honoring Princess Grace in the year that she died. These examples are considered patterns and are marked "ESSAI" (French for trial) above the date on the reverse.

The obverse shows the co-joined busts of Prince Ranier III, and his son Prince Albert II.

Only 1,000 of these patterns have been struck, and they are rarely encounted outside of Europe. This example has been graded Mint State 67 by NGC!
