Problem-free Liberty Half Eagle!
Early U.S. Gold is very difficult to locate. Designed by John Reich, the $5 Liberty Capped Bust to the Left Half Eagle was one of the shortest lived series in U.S. coinage, lasting a mere six years. This particular coin is the first to display the coin's denomination as part of its design. This would be a welcome addition to any type set. The $5 Liberty Half Eagle was the first coin actually struck for the United States. It is finer than most $5 Half Eagles, as the Act of April 2, 1792, authorized its production and commissioned the coin to weigh 135 grains with a .9167 fineness. All $5 Liberty Half Eagles after 1837 are .9-fine due to the Act of Jan. 18, 1837.
This is a very nice, evenly worn and accurately graded coin from 1812 with mark-free fields and strong devices for the grade. This is a problem-free example that is not normally seen. This coin has tremendous eye appeal with claims to a higher grade. You will be very pleased with this coin!
