SOLD OUT AT THE MINT! The Mount Rushmore 5 oz Silver America the Beautiful .999 fine Silver coin is the 5th and final coin of the America the Beautiful Silver Bullion Coin™ Program released by the U.S. Mint in 2013. The Mount Rushmore design features workers carving the faces of Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. This design is uniquely different than prior designs on U.S. coinage as this one offers an entirely different perspective on the labor and craftsmanship that went into designing and carving such an enormous piece of art. It is also the 20th coin in the series.

Mt. Rushmore stands 5,725 high and was selected as the site to carve due to its smooth fine-grained granite which only erodes 1 inch every 10,000 years. It was designed and sculpted by renowned sculptor Gutzon Borglum who was born in 1867 in the Idaho Territory. The project cost almost $1 million to make and began on October 4, 1927, and finished on October 31, 1941. Mount Rushmore features four of the United States' most prominent presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. However, this coin only depicts Washington and Jefferson.

Individual coins will come in capsules. Multiples of 10 will be delivered in mint-issued tubes without capsules. Orders of 100 come in mint-issued monster boxes also without capsules.

This is one of my personal favorites of all the 5 oz ATB's to be released thus far. It not only captures the beauty of this magnificent piece of art, but it also displays what America is truly all about. As a huge history buff, and a native of Massachusetts, I enjoy researching the lives and events of colonial America and I am always amazed at what these two men were able to accomplish to help birth our nation. The first President of the United States aside the author of one of the most fabled and celebrated documents of all time, the Declaration of Independence. Their effigy's, carefully sculpted in stone, stands as a testament to not only Washington and Jefferson, but to all of the founding fathers. Mt. Rushmore and this 5 oz coin is a perfect example that helps preserve and protect their legacy. The coin itself has everything that you would want in a coin: It has it's weight and purity on the rim, it is large enough to appreciate its detail, and it has an iconic design. This 5 oz coin is a nice way to own a piece of Mt. Rushmore, and its history!

I have a few of these already that I purchased locally. Most of the ones I have almost look proof like and are at least in BU condition. I received this one from Apmex very fast but was disappointed with the condition. Lots of marks and the front looks like someone used a brillo pad on it. Very disappointing with the condition.

I think these coins really are superb......My only complaint is, and this is no fault of APMEX, these coins tend to have many visible buff marks from the mint. I guess stamping a 3", 5 Ounce coin has it's drawbacks and the biggest one I can see is the difficulty in buffing and keeping such a big coin in mint condition. A few are pristine but most will show faint buff marks but I still love these coins!

I bought this after buying a few Canadian Maple Leaf and Silver Eagle coins, both 1 ounces each. Decided to go a little bigger this time and start collecting the 'America The Beautiful' series. Wow. This coin is nice. A lot bigger than I expected! Great quality, fast shipping, plus the clear container that came with it and protect it is phenomenal. The reverse side looks just like a normal U.S quarter, only HUGE.

                        Great buy.

one of my favorite coins. Was very pleased that it came in an air-tite case. Will buy at least 1 ATB 5oz coin per year.

                                Service and delivery comments:

Extremely fast delivery (paid w/ credit card), product arrived within 3 days of placing my order. The only downside (and why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) was that there was a huge finger print in the middle of the coin, was not happy about that.

Certainly a nice coin, but a bit pricey. We'll see if the value goes up like early ATB coins have. Mine had a slight scratch on S in South Dakota. Since it's almost proof like mirror finish, it stands out.

After holding a 10 oz and 1 Kilo Kookaburra compared to the 5 oz ATB it's not nearly as impressive. Kooks have a lower price over spot as well albeit not as collectible.
