Product Description

Series 1928 $500 Federal Reserve Note!
The $500 denomination dates back to the Civil War when the notes were large size (approx. 7.375" x 3.125"). The notes were reduced to their current size and issued in 1928. The obverse of this 1928 series bill features a central portrait of President William McKinley. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and “FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS" are printed on the reverse.

An interesting aspect of the Federal Reserve Notes from 1928 is that their redemption wording states, "Redeemable in Gold on Demand at the United States Treasury, or in Gold or Lawful Money at any Federal Reserve Bank." No Federal Reserve Note since 1928 has carried this redemption wording.

This particular Federal Reserve Note is from the St. Louis district, with the more desirable Light Green Seal, and has the serial number H00054937A. Woods/Mellon signatures. This note is has been graded Very Fine 20 by PMG. Friedberg#2200-H.
