This Silver Denarius depicts Julia Soaemias, mother of Elagabalus who was emperor from A.D. 218 - 222. The coin's approximate dimensions are 19mm and 2.6g. The obverse shows Julia's right facing bust surrounded by "IVLIA SOAEMIAS AVG." The reverse depicts "VENVS CAELESTIS," Venus enthroned holding an apple and scepter with a child standing at her feet. The legend is intact. Sear 7720.

Julia Soaemias and her son Elagabalus were murdered by mutinous troops in A.D. 222, as were Severus Alexander and his mother Julia Mamaea in A.D. 235, ending the Severan dynasty.
