Silver Denarius of Julia Maesa, grandmother of Emperor Elagabalus 218 - 222 AD. These silver coins were a workhorse of the empire, and their influence continues on to the present day. Many countries currently use the Dinar as their unit of currency which devolved from these coins. Even the British penny was abbreviated as 'D' which came from the word Denarius.
