New Zealand Mint is proud to issue the Birds of Prey 1 oz Silver coin series. Each of the coins within the series celebrates the beauty and power of these magnificent creatures. The reverse dramatically captures a Great Horned Owl in high quality color set against the mirror like finish of a proof coin. The bird is immediately recognisable by the tufts of feathers or ‘horns’ on its head. The obverse features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is issued by New Zealand Mint as legal tender, under the authority of Niue Island. The coin is presented in an attractive wooden case with removable insert. Insert can be positioned so the coin is displayed upright.
The New Zealand Mint is a privately owned company in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the only privately owned mint in New Zealand, purchasing refined gold from international sources to produce coins. They have established their reputation over the past four decades for their high quality design as exhibited by their innovative commemorative gold and silver bullion products. The only precious metal mint in New Zealand, the mint uses the tag-line “Minters of the South Pacific” and produces collector and bullion coins for a number of pacific nations, including Fiji, the Cook Islands, Niue and Tuvalu.
