The snake is an enduring symbol in Chinese mythology and folklore representing luck, wealth and fortune. The snake ranks sixth of all the animals in the Chinese zodiac and people born within this year are said to possess character traits of intelligence, gracefulness and materialism. The coin depicts a modern snake upon a treasure trove colour printed on finely engraved silver background of rays of light. The obverse of the coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, along with the year of issue (2013) and the denomination of $2. Each set is presented in a unique gift packaging featuring a gold colored ingot box.
