This is a must have coin for all of you Elasmobranchologists (aka Shark Biologists). This attractive coin was struck by the Perth Mint to pay tribute to the most feared predator in the Earth's oceans, the Great White Shark. Bicentennial of the return of Captain James Cook from his second Pacific Ocean Voyage. These coins were issued by the Cook Islands and are legal tender there for 150 dollars.
Depicted in the silver inset on the reverse is a great white breaking through the waves. The obverse features an image of Queen Elizabeth II. The Gold content of this coin is 1.5 troy ounces, with a silver weight of 0.50 oz.
This bi-metal coin comes with a replica tooth of a Great White Shark in a handsome wood display case. Unfortunately the COA is missing. Still a very nice set.
