Product Description

More than 2,400 years old!
The Persian daric was introduced by Darius the Great of Persia between 522 BC and 486 BC, and was used until the invasion of Alexander the Great in 330 BC. Upon invasion, darics were melted down and recoined as Macedonian staters during the time of Alexander the Great, which makes these Persian gold coins quite scarce!

This piece contains more than 1/4 oz actual Gold weight! The obverse shows a kneeling king holding a bow and spear. The reverse has an oblong incuse punch. This example has been graded Very Fine by NGC with a strike rating of 4/5 and a surface rating of 5/5! A truly amazing coin for being almost 2,500 years old!
