First Coinage of the Romanov Dynasty! These silver kopeks of Tsar Michael I are referred to as the 1st money of the Romanov Dynasty, which almost did not begin with Michael. When first told he had been elected Tsar by the National Assembly, Michael, then aged 16, wept and refused the position. He eventually consented and his descendents ended up ruling Russia for another 300 years! On one the obverse, the legend "Great Duke Michael Feodorovich" in struck in Russian. The reverse side of these interesting little pieces has a likeness of St. George slaying a dragon. This coin comes housed in a folder along with informational material on both the coin and Tsar Michael. A great piece of history!
