Product Description

This weighty £5 Silver Piedfort Crown is an unusual momento of The Queen’s 1953 coronation. The design has approval from both the Palace and the Treasury. The obverse bears the effigy by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS, with a powerful new design by Emma Noble on the reverse showing the Imperial State Crown Her Majesty wore on leaving Westminster Abbey after the ceremony. Around the crown the words “TO REIGN AND SERVE - A VOW MADE GOOD” pay homage to her Majesty’s ceaseless dedication. This 2013 £5 Silver Piedfort crown to celebrate the 60 years since The Queen’s coronation is being issued in a worldwide limited edition presentation of 3,250. Of proof quality in sterling silver it is a perfect link with the day Her Majesty was crowned. Few who witnessed it ever forget how in 1953 one day of brilliant pageantry brought back hope of better times to a nation battered by bleak years of war and austerity. This coin, featuring the Imperial State Crown is a perfect memento of that day. The demand for coins marking last year’s Diamond Jubilee was extraordinary. Several of those issued were completely sold out three months before the end of the year, including the Piedfort. It makes a perfect complement to the crowns issued to mark the Diamond Jubilee. If you wish to secure your own Piedfort we strongly advise ordering early.
