New Zealand Mint is proud to issue this coin celebrating the magnificent Bengal cat. A relativley new breed, the Bengal cat was developed by crossing wild Asian Leopard cats with domestic house cats. These crosses have produced a richly coloured cat with a coat of vivid spots or marbling and an inquisitive nature. This coin features a full coloured image of a Bengal cat printed on a silver background engraved with the outline of a cat and the words OUR FRIENDS and Bengal. The coin also features a small image of a yarn ball matched in colour to the coins delightful display case. The obverse of the coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is issued by New Zealand Mint as legal tender, under the authority of Niue Island. Each coin is presented in a delightful custom molded dispaly case shapped like a ball of yarn.
