MACEDONIA (Under Roman Rule)
These large (30mm, 16.7g), Silver Tetradrachms were minted sometime from 167- 149 BC. Issued for use in Macedonia which occupied a large section of northern Greece.
Obverse: Macedonian shield at center bust of Artemis Tauropolos..
Reverse: Club within oak wreath with legend on either side: MAKEDONON / PROTHS which roughly translates to MACEDONIANS FIRST. Attractive design!
