Product Details

This 1789 Gold 8 Escudos from Peru was struck at the Lima Mint. This is one of the tougher transitional dates right after the ascencion of King Charles IV of Spain to the throne. His likeness is featured on the obverse, and his name is spelled as CAROL IV. Later issues would be CAROL IIII. Struck at the Lima mint and containing .7614 oz Gold, this example has been graded VF35 by NGC. These older Gold coins from Peru don’t show up with much frequency, so don’t miss out! Listed in Krause as KM#92.
