This is the much scarcer 1921 Pilgrim Issue! The year before, in 1920, the 300th anniversary of the Landing of the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock was celebrated. The celebrations continued until late in 1921. The obverse depicts a portrait of Governor Bradford and the reverse depicts the Pilgrim ship, the Mayflower. While the 1920 issue had a mintage of 152,112 coins, the 1921 issue only had 20,053 coins minted. This coin is graded MS64 by PCGS and is fully lustrous. What is noticeable about this particular coin is the strong die-polishing that is very evident on the obverse. This is the "Conical Hat" varity where the hat does not touch the back of Governor Bradford's head. There is also a large lump of metal in front of his nose. A scarce and unusual coin.
