This is the fifth and final 1/10 gold coin in the Royal Canadian Mint’s new "O Canada" series focusing on iconic Canadian images, this beautiful coin celebrates one of Canada's most fascinating marine species, the orca. The reverse design presents a three-quarter profile portrait of an orca emerging from the water, seeming to gaze at the viewer with the curiosity of a wise and intelligent species. Framing the reverse image is an outer band featuring the word “CANADA,” the date “2013,” and the face value of “5 DOLLARS,” as well as a small orca tail fin. The obverse features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt. This beautiful gold coin in proof finish is presented in a maroon clamshell case and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
