Mintage of just 500 coins!
The sixth coin of a new series featuring great French ships. Every year for five years, this series will pay tribute to a sailing ship, a warship and an ocean liner. This Proof .950 Silver coin depicts L'Amazone.
Launched on November 8th 1896, the Amazone is an ocean liner which was known at first under the name of Laos on the line of Far East. The ocean liner is represented on the obverse in a dynamic way with its sails and its smoking chimneys. Its name, designed in a style reminiscent of transatlantic company posters of the time, completes the scenography of the obverse. The reverse is a composition which is common to all the ocean liners and is featured in all five coins. Each of these beautiful Silver coins comes in a box and with a certificate of authenticity.
