The oldest of the many varieties of ingot are those displaying the "picture frame" border. Poured loaf style bar and hand-stamped by D & H (Dugan & Helterbrand) Company in Marshfield, Missouri.
Dugan & Helterbrand got its start in 1973 as a photography film recycling company, buying scrap litho film from numerous sources and then reselling to firms that would process the film and recover the silver within. D & H remained in operation until 1991, leaving these ingots as a ghostly reminder of what was once a flourishing silver recover industry. In their prime, they produced several different styles of ingots ranging from shallow and deep pour loafs, rectangles and trapezoids, some with "picture frames" and others without.
