These Beautiful Proof-like Gold rounds were issued in .900 fine and AGW. of .1110 by Gold Standard Corporation from 1979 to 1985. The obverse of these coins will depict a bust of Adam Smith from various designs.
One of the best kept industry secrets is that Gold Standard Corporation innovated decimalized troy ounce coinage. As the gold price rose in 1979, smaller denominations of coinage were needed.
GSC was producing 1/2, 1/4, and 1 /10th ounce gold coins two years before any government production of the same denominations. This created a great deal of interest in gold by small investors. The Gold Standard decimalized troy ounce concept was so successful that many other countries adopted this concept.
Any coin ordered will be from the various years minted, and one of the many designs created. These are secondary market rounds that may possess contact marks on otherwise proof-like finishes.
