Product Description

Only $139.99 per set!
This set contains the 2013 Kiwi Treasuers coin, which features the Tane Mahuta kauir tree, as well as the 2014 Kiwi Treasures coin, which features the iconic mountain Mitre Peak. These are the second and third coins in this series. The 2013 Kiwi Treasures coin is limited to a worldwide mintage of 13,500 coins and comes complete in commemorative packaging. The coin features the mighty Tane Mahuta, New Zealand’s largest living kauri tree believed to be between 1,500 and 2,000 years old. Tane Mahuta is Maori for “Lord of the Forest,” a fitting name for a tree that stretches nearly 150 feet above the forest floor. The Waipoua Forest is home to both the majestic Tane Mahuta and the endangered kiwi. Both are pictured beautifully in a polished specimen three-dimensional relief with a frosty background on this stunning 1 oz Silver coin. Maori legend tells about Tane and his many brothers who lived in a world of darkness because their parents, the Earth Mother Papa-tu-a-nuku and the Sky Father Ranginui, were in a constant embrace that would not let light in. Tane put his shoulders on the ground and pressed his feet to the sky, separating his mother from his father and letting light into the world.

The 2014 Kiwi Treasures coin is limited to a worldwide mintage of just 10,000 coins and comes complete in commemorative packaging. The iconic mountain, Mitre Peak, is one of New Zealand’s most photographed attractions, and sits on the shore Milford Sound which is a region that attracts countless tourists each year due to its natural beauty. Both the kiwi bird and Mitre Peak are pictured beautifully in frosty three-dimensional relief with a Proof mirror like background on this stunning 1 oz Silver coin. The distinctive shape of the peak in southern New Zealand gives the mountain its name, after the mitre headwear of Christian bishops. It was named by a survey crew from the HMS Acheron.

The profile of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of both coins.
