Launched on November 8th 1896, the L'Amazone is an ocean liner which was known at first under the name of Laos on the line of Far East. The ocean liner is represented on the obverse in a dynamic way with its sails and its smoking chimneys. Its name, designed in a style reminiscent of transatlantic company posters of the time, completes the scenography of the obverse. The reverse is a composition which is common to all the ocean liners and is featured in all five coins.
