Here is a Series 1928 $1,000 Federal Reserve Note from the St. Louis District with the desirable light green seal and serial numbers. It has serial number H00027270A. Series 1928 Federal Reserve Notes were the last to be backed by Gold, as their obligation states, "Redeemable in Gold on Demand at the United States Treasury, or in Gold or Lawful Money at any Federal Reserve Bank." No Federal Reserve Notes after the 1928 series has carried this clause in its obligation. However, Federal Reserve Notes have not been redeemable in Gold since Jan. 30, 1934. This note is an Extra Fine example from one of the tougher districts, as there were only 60,000 notes printed for St. Louis, coupled with the fact it has the light green seal. This note would grade Almost Uncirculated if not for the corner wear, but it desreves its overall appearance merit an Extra Fine plus grade! This note will make a great addition to any high denomination collection! Listed as Friedberg#2210-H.
