These series 1914 Federal Reserve Notes were the first ones issued after congress created the Federal Reserve by the act of December 23, 1913. These types were the issues that introduced uniformity to U.S. paper money. The $5 note has a central portrait of Abraham Lincoln, 16th president, flanked by the Federal Reserve and Treasury department seals on the front. The back of this note depicts the "Landing of Columbus" at left, and "Landing of the Pilgrims" at right. This note was isuued by the Chicago district. Signatures of Burke and Houston. This note has been certified Choice Extremely Fine 45 with Exceptional Paper Quality by PMG. A beautiful note. Friedberg#870.
