This Gold Stater (8.5 gm) was struck sometime during the reign of Philip III, half-brother of Alexander the Great, and his immediate succesor as king of Macedonia from 323-317 BC. The obverse shows the helmeted head of Athena, goddess of wisdom and warfare, while the reverse features Nike, winged goddess of victory.

This coin has been graded Very Fine by NGC. An outstanding example of Gold coinage that is more than 2,300 years old!
