Product Details

New release!

This 1oz. silver coin from the tropical New Zealand territory of Tokelau has a magnificent image of a Yellowfin Tuna swimming through a coral reef. These majestic fish can get up to 400 pounds and are found in the deep offshore waters of the South Pacific Ocean near Tokelau. Tokelau, the Polynesian word for “North Wind,” is a unique territory made up of three tropical coral atolls that combine into one connected ring of land mass.

Each Tokelau Yellowfin Tuna coin is minted from .999 fine silver and weighs 1 troy oz. With a face value of five dollars, these coins make a great asset for investors and collectors alike.

The reverse side of the coin shows the beautiful wide eyed tuna with an open mouth looking for its next meal near a coral reef. Etched above the tuna is its proper name, Kakahi-Yellowfin Tuna. The obverse displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II along with the Tuluma which is the national symbol of Tokelau.

The Tuluma is a wooden tackle box used by the fishermen of Tokelau. On the Tuluma is a cross and the inscription “Tokelau mot e Atua” which means “Tokelau for God,” referencing the influence of Christianity in Tokelau.

Individual coins will come packaged in protective plastic slips; orders of 20 will come in plastic tubes.

Comments about 2014 1 oz Silver Tokelau $5 Yellowfin Tuna:

I just got 2 of the Tokelau Yellowfin Tuna Bullion Coins today and think they are some of the nicest coins ever,I just love collecting all types of Bullion and Coins, but mostly any kind with animals so these were perfect.I will admit my faves are still the 2014 1oz. Silver Somalian Elephant Bullion Coins, those look almost like Proofs but without the high premium (think I paid like $24 something for 2 of those.

But come Friday when I get my monthly deposit I plan on buying 3 or 4 more of each, and as always APMEX was great at everything, they have made a customer for life out of me.Thanks APMEX.

Comments about 2014 1 oz Silver Tokelau $5 Yellowfin Tuna:

APMEX did their best to insure the quality of these coins. Unfortunatly, this beautiful design was under cut by lack luster quality. The design is a winner, but if I had to do it over I would have chosen a different round. No reflection on APMEX. They are my "go to" precious metals source.

Comments about 2014 1 oz Silver Tokelau $5 Yellowfin Tuna:

Yes, technically the mintage is "limited", but I'm not sure a mintage of 500,000 should be advertised as something that will make it valuable. America The Beautiful 5 oz coins, on the other hand (with mintages in the 10s of thousands) are really what collectors consider to be "limited" in the sense that it affects future prices.
