The history of 1 oz Gold Lunar Year of the Goat coins

These 2015 Gold coins, featuring the Year of the Goat, is the latest addition to the hugely popular Lunar Series 1 and 2 from the Perth Mint. The first Gold bullion coin series began with the Year of the Mouse in 1996 and ended with the Year of the Pig in 2007. In addition to the Year of the Goat coin, both Lunar Series of 1 oz Gold coins also feature the years of the Mouse, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. The Gold Lunar Series 2, which began in 2008, will continue until 2019.

Why invest in 1 oz Gold Lunar Year of the Goat coins?

These 2015 Gold coins are a perfect addition to a lunar series collection, but their rarity makes them an interesting addition for any coin collection. These Gold coins, commemorating the Year of the Goat, with a full mintage of only 30,000, are rarer and more desirable bullion coins than other coins with larger runs. In addition, most of the 1 oz Gold coins from the Gold Lunar Series 2 have similar limited mintages. As a result, this Gold coin collection can be difficult to obtain and is likely to increase in numismatic value, adding to its collectibility.

Add 1 oz Gold Lunar Year of the Goat coins from the Perth Mint to your collection.

When collecting 2015 Gold coins like those from the Gold Lunar Series, you can expand your collection with other coins struck by the Perth Mint. These Gold coins include classic Australian symbols with coins such as Gold Kangaroo coins and Gold Koala coins that offer a finely detailed image of these animals, making these coins an ideal addition to your Australian coin collection. Other Perth Mint 1 oz Gold coins at APMEX include 1 oz Gold Nugget coins, which are favorites among collectors because they are some of the few major .9999 fine Gold coins to change their reverse design annually. In addition to the 1 oz Gold coin selection, the Perth Mint also features a variety of Gold sovereign coins, as well as 1/10 oz Gold Battle of the Coral Sea coins, that are welcomed additions to world coin collections.

The Goat

I purchased 2 of these one year ago and the price has increased $500 for each 1 oz coin. My only complaint is that I should have purchased more at the time - $1311.99. These are even worth more than the 2014 Year of the Horse. This is also true for silver. I suppose many people are like me about the design of the 2015 Goat and think they're one of the most eye appealing designs from Perth Mint Lunar Series in the past recent years. I just purchased one more at $1800 because of my preference liking for this 2015 Perth Goat. We will see if the 2016 Monkey does as well. In my opinion, I don't think so, but just in case - I purchased a few because I do feel the Austrialian Perth Mint Lunar Series is one of the most collectible Soverign coins for any investor or collector (in both Gold and Silver) to gain popularity when obtained within a few months after each release. The Perth Lunar Series has done better in retaining, even gaining numismatic value in recent years when compared to Chinese Pandas, American Eagles, and Ausie Kooks.

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell

All the praise well deserved. Beautiful from all angles. Shines and delights. Feels good in hand. If you are a goat, this would be one to have. Traded original capsule for 32mm. air-tite; much better fit. In this case " all that shines is gold".

I love this coin because I was born in Goat year. I don't purchase it to resell one day. I purchase this coin for sentimental reason and one day when I die, I will give this to my boy to keep.

Rivals horse and dragon for best lunar

I bought this coin for the beauty of it, and didn't mind paying the high premium in the 1300's because in the end your paying for quality. It is something I will never sell but keep forever to treasure and pass on. Like most gold the picture doesn't do it justice but once you see it in real life it will be like nothing you have ever seen. Get them before they are gone for good.

Pros

  • Easy to Sell
  • Attractive Design
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
