The history of the Kookaburra Silver coins

The Kookaburra is one of many APMEX Silver coins for sale but what is special about this coin is that the Kookaburra celebrates its 25th anniversary of the Silver coin series by reproducing Dr. Stuart Devlin’s original Kookaburra design from 1990. Unlike the 1990 1 oz Silver Kookaburra, the obverse features the newer depiction of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley rather than Raphael Maklouf’s version. The popularity of the Silver coins series eventually led the Perth Mint to launch other theme-focused Silver bullion programs such as the Australian Silver Koala and the Lunar I and II series. Many consider the Silver bullion coins to be the most beautiful coins on the market.

Why invest in Silver coins for sale from APMEX?

Silver in Silver coins has had many uses dating back thousands of years to when Silver was first used by ancient people for trade, jewelry and artifacts. Then and now, Silver, as found in Silver coins, has been considered a valuable asset. Today, many invest in Silver bullion to strategically balance traditional investment portfolios because Precious Metals like Silver tend to maintain their purchasing power even during economic downturns. When you buy the 1 oz Silver Kookaburra, you also benefit from the added value created by this coin’s collectibility and extremely limited mintage.

Collect Silver coins designed by renowned Gold and Silversmith Dr. Stuart Devlin.

Designing Gold and Silver coins is what Gold and Silversmith Dr. Stuart Devlin is best known for, though he has also created a variety of sculptures, jewelry, utilitarian objects and medals throughout his long career. Devlin has designed Gold and Silver coins and medals for 36 countries, including Australia’s first decimal currency, and in 1982 he earned the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweler to Queen Elizabeth II. The 1 oz Silver Kookaburra reflects his skill and artistry in coin design. Add the Silver bullion to your coin collection, and include other coins designed by Devlin such as a set of Australia’s first decimal currency or Ethiopia’s currency.

Kooks Are Cool

The quality of the Perth Mint's coinage is very impressive. Of all my collected coins, the Kookaburras have become my favorites. Maybe because I've overlooked them for so long and was really surprised at the clean lines and blemish-less surfaces. I got a few of these privy marked ones to add to the BU ones which will increase the trade value (if I can ever let go of them).

Pros

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand

Low mintage, goat privy, and anniversary edition - rarity is nice, but what really blew me away is how this coin looks more like a proof coin than a BU. Part of me thinks I shouldn't write this review because I don't want the secret getting out - it's just that nice! ;) APMEX delivered FAST and with immaculate packaging as they always do - kudos all around!

Pros

  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)

I would suggest you get your hands on these while you can. A mintage of only 50 000 these won't hang around long for the taking. the perth mint once again does a fine job. I have been very well pleased with the entire kook series. It is always exciting to see the next years issue as they change design each year. As always I am well pleased with the way apmex packages there products.

Pros

  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Mint Condition

The 2015 kook goat privy has alot going for it.To begin with, the kooks have a large following of collectors, who take pride in complete collections. On top of that, the privy coins have a "must have" appeal. Many stackers like to have a tube for investment purposes. It only makes sense since the privy coins have a limited mintage of 50,000 coins. All in all this coin is a winner on all levels.

Pros

  • Recognized Brand
  • Easy to Sell
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
