          Comments about 1958 - 1967 Canadian Silver Dollars (AU/BU):

I had liked the fact that this purchase represented a reasonable margin for a fractional soverign coin. Unfortunately, the quality of the minting process is very poor due to apparently low strike pressures as these coins lack even reasonable detail. These coins are generally much less attractive than I had imagined.

I purchased this produce for the design for my private collection interests. Both coins were in AU/BU condition and arrived promptly.

I was so excited after opening the box. The coins I received are definitely AU and some BU. For the low price over spot and the high grade of these coins I will be buying plenty more when they are available again.

This is a most excellent form of silver and currency. The 80% silver 20% copper is a perfect ratio for silver dollars and in my opinion should still be in use today to avoid significant inflation. Esthetically pleasing design as well.

When I received this coin in the mail, I was a little disappointed. I expected the coin to be AU or (one can only wish) BU. But the coin I received looked like it was XF. Maybe I'm a little too picky or just not good at grading, but the coin wasn't as nice as I had hoped. But since I'm only paying a dollar over price and basically only paying for its silver content, I guess I can't complain. But the Canadian silver dollar is a beautiful coin and one of my favorites; I'll be more than happy to add this coin into my collection. I'm disappointed but satisfied. It's a mixed and confusing feeling.

                      Comments about 1958 - 1967 Canadian Silver Dollars (AU/BU):

Pros 1. With the silver content of 0.6 pure troy ounces per dollar coin, it easier to do math without breaking out a calculator to figure out 0.7734 for US coinage. 2. Canadian legal tender status 3. As I write, the lowest premium on these is $0.79 over spot per pure ounce where similar condition US dollar coins are sold at $6 per oz over. Even the US dollar mega-culls are being sold for $3+ over. Granted the US dollar coins are older, but it seems like a reasonable speculation that premiums on these Canadian dollars could move up in the future. This is the main reason why I would prefer these over the bulk generic 80% Canadian coinage even though that option is cheaper. Cons 1. The main drawback is that 80% silver purity is low relative to US 90% or of course 999 bullion. This will add some bulk which might be unwanted and will make them less attractive to a refiner. You may be able to get cheaper prices on 40% halves and war nickels, but those are of too low purity to consider in my opinion. 2. Probably less understood and recognized for their silver in the U.S. although Pro.1 might counteract this. Conclusion I wouldn't want to own these as my sole form of silver, but to me they offer some compelling advantages as part of a diversifying approach in the physical silver space.
