The history of Gold American Buffalos
The 2016 Gold Buffalos keep alive the sentiments expressed by sculptor James Earle Fraser in a 1947 radio interview: “I felt I wanted to do something totally American, a coin that could not be mistaken for any other country’s coin.” The modern Gold American Buffalos are based on Fraser’s 1913 nickel, which featured a proud example of the North American bison on one side and a Native American on the other, only the second time a realistic Native American portrait had been featured on a U.S. coin. The Native on these U.S. Gold coins is unknown, and Fraser claimed it was a composite of several Native Americans. Before the Gold Buffalo coins, the design was also featured on a commemorative Silver dollar.
Why invest in 2016 Gold Buffalos?
The 2016 Gold Buffalos mark the 10-year anniversary of the U.S. Mint getting into the high-purity Gold market. Before Gold American Buffalos, the only U.S. Mint’s Gold coins were the American Eagles, which are .9167 fine Gold. U.S. Gold coins are some of the most trusted currency in the world, and the U.S. Mint wanted to offer a fine Gold coin to compete with other Gold coins, such as the Canadian Maple Leafs and South African Krugerrands. Gold Buffalo coins offer the fine Gold purity you want with the full faith and credit of the U.S. government standing behind it.
Gold American Buffalos are an important thread in the international economic web.
The price of 2016 Gold Buffalos depends on many factors: Gold mining output, worldwide jewelry and industrial demand, and economic fluctuations. The price of Gold American Buffalos and other Gold bullion is also affected by changing central bank reserves of major economies. Prices for U.S. Gold coins often go up when central banks move away from paper money and buy more Gold. As you consider buying Gold Buffalo coins, it is important to watch these trends so you can buy and sell at the right prices for your investment strategy.
