2018 Gold Buffalos Now Available to Pre-Order at APMEX
In 2006, the United States Mint introduced its first 1 oz .9999 fine Gold coins with the Gold Buffalo. This Gold coin was instantly a huge success and is still one of the most popular bullion coins from the U.S. Mint.
The Gold Buffalo coin takes its design from James Earle Fraser's famous 1913 Buffalo Nickel. The obverse shows the well-known Indian Head design, created by combining images of three Native American chiefs: Iron Tail (Lakota), Two Moons (Cheyenne) and John Big Tree (Seneca). The reverse features the classic buffalo design supposedly modeled after Black Diamond, a 1,550 pound bison living in New York City's Central Park Zoo in the early 1900s, as well as inscriptions of the weight, denomination and Gold content.
The 1 oz Gold Buffalos have an average mintage of about 200,000 coins per year, which is much less than that of the Gold American Eagle that averages about 700,000 coins per year. The iconic designs on the Gold Buffalo coin continue with the 2018 edition, which is in fact expected to also have lower mintages as in the past.
APMEX offers the brilliant Gold Buffalo in a variety of options, including the exclusive MintDirect® packaging. The MintDirect® process seals each MintDirect® coin to ensure the authenticity and condition after the coins are removed directly from the mint boxes. Gold Buffalos are available in MintDirect® Singles or, for the more savvy investors, MintDirect® Tubes of 20 Gold Buffalo coins.
Investing in the 2018 Gold Buffalo is an excellent way to enhance the value of your investment portfolio and add security to your future.
