2018 Swans Take Flight for the Upcoming Third Release
As the end of 2018 draws near, the market is already anticipating the third and final release in the exceptional Swan Series. The series, produced by The Perth Mint, is dedicated to the swan and its history with the mint. The Perth Mint’s operations are situated in the heart of Perth, the capital and largest city of Western Australia. Founded in 1829 on the shores of the Swan River, the original colony in the territory was in fact called Swan River Colony, the location of which is now Perth.
The 2017 Silver Swan launched The Perth Mint Swan Series and featured an elegant swan swimming above the surface of the water. The ripples in the water run underneath the legend of the coin and can be seen up to the rim. This 1 oz Silver coin was quickly followed by 1 oz Proof Silver and 1 oz Gold versions featuring the same design.
The highly anticipated 2018 Perth Mint Swan design features the iconic Black Swan and her cygnet swimming across the water’s surface on the reverse. The ripple pattern can also be seen on the edge of the coin outside of the weight and purity. The obverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, monetary value and the year of issue.
The .9999 fine Silver has a limited mintage of only 25,000 coins, with the Proof Silver seeing an extremely limited mintage of just 2,500 coins. Just 5,000 Gold coins will be produced in 2018.
