African Elephant Series Continues at APMEX
Gold and Silver Elephant coins were first issued in 1999, minted by the Das Bayerisches Hauptmünzamt Mint in Munich, Germany. Commissioned by Zambia, until the country of issue changed to Somalia in 2004, the German-manufactured Elephant coins attract attention from investors and coin collectors all over the world.
The 2018 Gold and Silver Elephant bullion coins continue the traditional obverse design depicting two leopards supporting a shield with a five-pointed star along with a ribbon draped over two crossed lances and two crossed palm fronds below. As with many popular world coin series, the reverse design changes each year. The 2018 coins feature a close-up view of an adult elephant with its trunk reaching out toward the edge of the coin. In the background are two birds in flight and a leafless tree.
Whatever your collecting or investment strategy is, the 20th year of issue Gold and Silver Elephant bullion coins are available in many options to add value and diversity to your portfolio. The Silver coins come in sizes ranging from 1/10 oz up to 1 kilo. The Gold coins come in sizes as small as 1/2 gram to the popular 1 oz size.
