APMEX is Noting the Upcoming Lunar Year of the Pig

Lunar Year of the Pig Gold and Silver coins

APMEX Lunar Year of the Pig products are here! In addition to our bars and rounds, we’re excited to release APMEX Gold and Silver Foil Notes to celebrate the Chinese Lunar Calendar coming full-circle!

February 5, 2019 begins the New Year of the Pig of the Chinese Zodiac. A person born during Lunar Year of the Pig is believed to be diligent, compassionate and generous. The following are years of the Pig: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019 and 2031.

Many times, a cartoon-like pig is used to depict the Chinese Lunar Year of the Pig, but the initial inspiration behind the Zodiac is a boar. APMEX bars and rounds in .999 fine Silver feature a boar grazing underneath peony with its offspring.

For the first time ever, we are also offering new Gold and Silver Foil Notes with floral print and geometric shapes to represent the gentle, but brave attributes of the Pig. Available in .999 fine Gold or Silver, these foil notes bring new options to the APMEX Lunar series.

The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao, is based on a 12-year cycle calculated according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar and relates to different animal signs. These signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. People born during a given animal's years are said to bear distinctive characteristics of that animal.

Lunar Year of the Pig products are a great way to complete your APMEX Chinese Lunar Calendar collection. Shop the entire series on our website!
