The obverse of this .9999 fine Gold coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II along with the year and face value. The reverse is inspired by a 1626 map of the Western Hemisphere by English cartographer John Speed. The map depicts key discoveries by famous explorers such as Christopher Columbus, Sir Francis Drake and Thomas Candish.
This 2018 Gold Terrestrial Domed coin has an extremely limited mintage of 750 coins worldwide. Each coin comes in a case with an outer box and a numbered certificate of authenticity.
Featuring a decorative map portraying California as an island while sea monsters and ships occupy the uncharted oceans, the 1626 map portrayed on this Gold coin is one of the most iconic maps of America ever made. The indigenous peoples and cities of the Americas are illustrated throughout the map while the Great Lakes of Michigan are non-existent.
The 2018 Australia 1 oz Gold $100 Map of the Western Hemisphere coin would make an excellent addition to any collection. You can view the new release, as well as the first in the 2018 Gold Domed series, the 2018 Australia 1 oz Gold $100 Map of the World Domed Proof coin, now on APMEX.com.
