Final Releases Conclude the Popular EC8 Series
The flamingos and seaplane featured on the final two releases complete this figurative cruise across the Eastern Caribbean. The 2018 St. Lucia Flamingo and St. Vincent & The Grenadines Seaplane coins are available now at APMEX.
The series, manufactured and distributed by Scottsdale Mint, consists of eight coins minted in 2018 on behalf of each of the eight Caribbean island members that comprise the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (also known as EC8). The EC8 consists of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts
The obverse of the 2018 Flamingo coins features a pair of flamingos, which is very fitting for a coin from Saint Lucia. This small country has a moderate tropical climate, thanks to its location on the Atlantic Ocean border causing the warm climate to be moderated by northeast trade winds. Saint Lucia boasts a unique bird-watching experience, whether on the beach or in the mountain regions.
The 2018 Seaplane coins depict one of the most common methods of transportation within this exquisite island chain. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, also referred to as simply SVG, is uncluttered by tourist exploitation, with white-sand beaches, sky-blue water and barely a soul around. The seaplane is so common because SVG alone has 32 islands and cays to explore.
All issues in the EC8 Series have extremely limited mintages, from 25,000 Silver coins to just 500 colorized Gold coins. You can shop these final releases available now at APMEX to complete or even start any Eastern Caribbean collection.
