The Perth Mint Goes Beyond with New Star Trek Coin
Published on 07/05/2016 by APMEX
The Perth Mint is the oldest operating mint in Australia, having produced thousands upon thousands of Precious Metal products since 1899. Some of the most recognizable are the Silver Kookaburra, the Gold Kangaroo and the Platinum Koala. While these are popular, there is another coin that is sure to make a statement.
The newest Silver bullion coin from the Perth Mint features the iconic U.S.S. Enterprise from Star Trek. For the 50th anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series, the mint released its first Star Trek Silver bullion coin, differing from their previous numismatic Star Trek coins. This limited mintage coin is expected to be as much a Star Trek collectible as the Star Trek numismatics.
This 1 oz bullion coin contains .999 fine Silver and comes safely displayed in a plastic capsule. On the obverse is the Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination. On the reverse is the U.S.S. Starship Enterprise, as well as the Star Trek 50 year anniversary insignia and logo inscription along with the traditional Perth Mint “P” mintmark. The background also gives the illusion of the U.S.S. Enterprise flying through space.
This Star Trek memorabilia coin has a limited mintage of 50,000 worldwide, so don’t miss out on your chance to own Star Trek Silver! You can shop this coin, as well as other Perth Mint Star Trek Silver coins on our website.
