Enjoy the Beauty and Value of Gold Buffalo Coins

These Gold Buffalo tribute proofs received a PF-70 grade from NGC, ensuring they are among the best struck of the year. As long as these coins are kept in encapsulation for protection, they will always retain their perfect 70 condition, so you can appreciate the fine detailing in the design. Gold Buffalo Nickel tributes come in many varieties. All are respected for their strong tendency to not only retain their value but perhaps even appreciate over time.

The Buffalo Gold Coin will always have the reliable value of 1 oz of .9999 fine Gold. Combined with the historic Buffalo Nickel design, this becomes a piece that is as interesting as it is valuable. Gold Buffalo Coins are an excellent addition to any American Gold coinage collection.

Add Interest to Your Collection with Buffalo Gold Coins

The Gold Buffalo proof features designs that originally debuted on the 1913 Buffalo Nickel. The coin was designed by sculptor James Earle Fraser as part of a government initiative to beautify American coinage at the time. Fraser is believed to have modeled the Native American on the obverse after several chiefs, including Chief Iron Tail of the Lakota Sioux and Chief Two Moons of the Cheyenne.

The reverse of the Buffalo Gold Coin features an American bison. The bison on the coin is widely believed to be an animal by the name of Black Diamond. Some researchers dispute the identity of the animal, as Black Diamond changed homes many times and may not have been in residence at the Bronx Zoo when Fraser was purportedly creating the design for his coin. While some contend that Fraser crafted his design elsewhere using Black Diamond, others suspect he used another bison as his model.

Black Diamond enjoyed notoriety for the piece throughout his life and long after, as his head was preserved, mounted and sold for a tidy price. As the American Buffalo Gold Coin clearly demonstrates, Fraser's finished design was a stunning work of art, regardless of his model. The attention to detail is exquisite and shows beautifully in carefully preserved Buffalo Gold Coins.

If you are interested in adding value to your coin collection while investing in a piece of American artwork, the American Buffalo Gold Coin is an outstanding place to start. Combined with other U.S. Gold coins, this coin will give you a solid foundation for a fascinating and valuable collection.
